Emerging rapper Bris (born Christopher Treadwell) was shot and killed on Sunday (June 21) in his hometown of Sacramento.

The 24-year-old rapper was found by officers with a life-threatening gunshot wound, he was pronounced dead at the spot, according to a released statement from the Sacramento Police Department.

Although, the Sacramento PD didn’t give out the name of the victim as Treadwell, KCRA confirmed the rapper’s identity, with the police noting that there were reports of shots fired in the area and officers determined that there was a “solo vehicle collision” that happened before the shooting.

However, police said homicide detectives are currently carrying out a neighborhood canvass to search for evidence, with the circumstances leading to Treadwell’s death still unclear; according to Billboard Sacramento PD said there is no update on the case at press time. No arrests had been made at press time, according to the Sacramento PD statement.

Bris delivered the 10:42 mixtape last year with G-Man and he released the new single, “Need Hammy,” just last week.
